Michael loved life and lived it to the fullest. He did more in his short 27 years than most do in a full lifetime. He will be missed terribly by all those whose lives he touched.

I thought I would share this story . . .
This summer on the night of my birthday, I was out with some good friends for dinner and drinks. We ended up at bar where Mike was out with his sister and others. After a little while, a waiter came over with a huge piece of cake with a candle. Since I was among friends, some of whom I've known for years, I wasn't sure who was behind the birthday cake at first. (As you know, the whole cake and candle thing can be a tad embarrassing, but I'll secretly admit that I was happy someone made the effort!) Much to my surprise, Mike was the one who asked the waiter to bring me the cake.
What makes this story special is that I didn't know Mike well. I am a good friend of Maggie's and I had met Mike maybe three or four times through her. Out of everyone that was there with me that night, Mike was the one who made sure I got cake on my birthday. And what's even sweeter, is that he tried to give Maggie the credit for doing it. Interesting how such a small gesture can show what a big heart he had.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
