Michael loved life and lived it to the fullest. He did more in his short 27 years than most do in a full lifetime. He will be missed terribly by all those whose lives he touched.

Dear Family Members of Michael Burke:
I was saddened and shocked when I recieved word of the sudden and tragic death of Michael. I was unable to attend the memorial service and funeral due to family committments. It is young students like Michael that makes teaching and coaching enjoyable and rewarding. I can still picture him walking into my classroom with that broad smile and rosey red cheeks. I knew Michael would accomplish great feats with his attitude and intelligence.
I would like to share one memory of Michael that speaks volumes of his character. During his senior year he was informed by school officials that he would be required to miss some basketball games due to a violation of the school handbook. Most athletes hide in a shell and just put out enough effort to satisfy the coach. Not Michael! He practiced hard and forced the first team to make a supreme effort. His hustle was amazing. During the games, he became the head cheerleader from the bench by encouraging his teammates. Michael's school spirit was second to none.
Whether in the classroom, athletic arena, or music and drama departments, one could always count on Micheal to give a 100% effort. The above statement answers why Michael was respected and loved by all. I will greatly miss Michael but always cherish the many memories I have of him.
With deepest sympathy,
Lon Spurgin
